The receiver is quiet very quiet. With the Noise button engaged the noise leaves and signals are clear. With the RF Gain adjusted and fine tuned the signal is clear and crisp. background noise was still there. Over all this is a great rig. You can program a lot of recall memories with the SDR software. This rig is a great choice at a lower price. I would give it a 10 of 10 cosmetically and it works and functions great. It comes with a Desk Mic hand mic SDR software hard copy of manual power cable and some misc. A good way to see how it functions is just search for the Ten Tec Pegasus 550 on You Tube and watch the 11.29 minute video.
