What is "captcha" ?
This new procedure is called 'recaptcha' and is a necessary step to reduce spam
and scams. It is a step that you must go through to respond to an ad here.
Basically, 'recaptcha' is a test to see if the website visitor is human, or a
computer. So, recaptcha presents to you a couple of images and asks
you to type in the words you see. A computer does not do so well
interpreting the images and will guess wrong most of the time. You are
smarter than computers, though, and you will give the right answer.
Why do you torture us users with this extra step?
We hate to have to do this. But it is for your benefit. It does not,
and can never, completely eliminate spam or scams. However, most spammers and
scammers are very lazy bags of puss-scum. This extra step slows them down a
lot. They go to the sites that are the easiest and fastest to use so
that they can send the maximum amount of email in as little time as possible.
So, when they want to send an email to someone that posted an ad on this site,
they have to take the time to answer the 'recaptcha'. Since this slows
them down, and they are disgusting, lazy, evil, anencephalous, malodorous,
perverts, they go elsewhere and use other websites to commit their crimes.
