Email responses to your ad now contain more information.  As of yesterday, no one can respond to your ad on SecondHandRadio unless they are logged in to the site.  This may be a small inconvenience to some people.   However this will be better for everyone, especially people that have posted an ad on the site.  Scammers and spammers are typically very lazy.  And the ones with automated scamail generators need to customize the scamarators to each site which slows them down a lot.

Because we now require people to be logged in, the website will automatically insert the following information into the email response:

Registered Username Registered user first and last name Registred Email address used  When responding to your ad,  it is NOT possible to change this information.

When you receive an email about your ad.   Here is a sample of what the email would look like:

A response to your listing 'Heathkit DX-60B - needs repair' at SecondHandRadio.com

Name: John  Public
Email: sales@jtkcommunications.com
User comments/questions:
Hi.  Would you be interested in selling me the front panel only?
Yours seems to be in perfect shape and that's all I need to restore my transmitter.

You can respond to the user by using the email address provided.

That looks like a genuine response to me.  I would not hesitate to click 'reply' and begin email exchanges with John Q Public about my broken DX-60B transmitter.    Of course, when I click 'reply' then Mr. John Q. Public now has my email address and we can choose how to proceed with our discussions about the radio.

Suppose we get an email like this ?

Well, we know this is a typical standard form letter for a scammer. So we definitely are NOT going to respond to this jerk.  What we might do is to forward that email to webmaster@secondhandradio.com .

Keep sending your suggestions and complaints.  We do like to read them.
