one working pair of radioshack's "built like a brick" ht's. you get an htx202 and a 404. the included alkaline packs are a much better option than a factory pack. you can load the alkaline pack with hi-cap NIMH AA batts and run the ht all day. radios are used but not beat up. fully operational with antennas and alkaline packs. these have built in tone encode/decode.

if you're not familiar with these, they are excellent radios for the new ham. they are tough, have an excellent receiver, will run off a 12v cig lighter cord in the car, and accessories are easy to get. the receiver on these ht's has better intermod rejection than many ham mobiles i've seen. the trade off is that they cannot be "opened up" they are ham band only radios. if you need to go out of band you should be buying a scanner anyways!
