Frequently Asked Questions

SecondHandRadio.com now has a newsletter.   Approximately once per month we will email you with a summary of the newest features, website news, and tips for making better ads.  We try to include links to interesting articles related to electronics, RF, antique equipment etc.  You may unsubscribe at any time.

If you registered after October 1, 2010, you are already subscribed to our newsletter.

Why email newsletters?

Newsletters are an excellent way to keep in touch with website users.  They can be especially helpful to website users that only visit occasionally.  If we add a new feature to a website, change procedures, or change the way users log in, these things could come as a surprise to returning visitors.  The returning visitor may become frustrated when they try to do things the "way we always have".  So if we do make a change to our website, the newsletter is a good way to let you know.

Email newsletters are really the best way to keep in touch with members of your radio club, for example.  I have joined some amateur radio clubs that try to use CC: and BCC: and send mail out that way.  Well...  not only is that method a violation of the US CAN-spam act, it is a lot of work to maintain the mailing list.  That "click here to unsubscribe" link is the greatest invention since the invention of email.

A good commercial email marketing system (a.k.a. newsletter system) allows people to unsubscribe and change their email preferences as well.  This way, when people change their email address, or move out of the area, they can easily update the information or unsubscribe.  All this is done with no effort on the part of your radio club secretary.

Adding new club members to the club email newsletter is also quite easy.  It is a simple as copying and pasting a few lines of text into a webpage, just like we did here.

Email newsletter services for clubs up to 1000 members are usually under $10 per month.  Large businesses can send 100,000 emails per month for a dollar per day or so.

For really impressive, high impact, memorable email newsletters, use video email newsletters.
